Prevent duplicate tabs by finding and switching to a tab with the identical URL rather than opening a new one when clicking links
- firefox open link in open tab if exists
- firefox open link in existing tab
- prevent lots of duplicate tabs when clicking on links by finding and switching to a tab with the identical URL rather than opening a new one
- firefox link switch to open tab
- Firefox extension that prevents re-opening already open tabs
- firefox add-on that will stop me from reopening previously opened URLs
… how am i the only person who needs this?
Wohoo, someone, Lynn, made it!

Some notes:
- It only seems to start working for tabs it has seen get opened.
- Even with “When you open a link in a new tab, switch to it immediately” enabled in Firefox’s
about:preferences
, it works by hastily changing its mind and closing the tab that started to open. Which is sort of good, you see the effect, a tab appears and immediately closes, and you’re back on your original tab. And i didn’t have switching to new tabs enabled anyway, but expecting to go to my already-open tab oddly made me want different behavior than i’ve had for years. Would be nice to be able to choose whether to go to the new tab that is opened or not, but i’ve lived without that forever without thinking about it and this extension wouldn’t support that behavior for already-open tabs anyway.
